Ball Jointed Doll

When first learned about BJD's, my immediate reaction was "I need to make a Ghetsis one." In spite of the fact that I'm personally more of a plushes person, there's this absolutely stunning level of sophistication that you just can't get with soft, cuddly things.

At the current moment, I have neither the plans nor the funds to get a doll body and face and all of the other parts that some with it (faceup, eyes, specific-shade-of-green wig, clothes...), but I do have some ideas for what I'd like. While I don't plan on doing any big deep dives in the near future, my first foray into the world of BJD left me with some pretty good results, and a much better idea of what to expect from a doll.

I will also add on that even pre-tarrif, I was fully expecting to pay at least $1000 USD for this doll. That sentiment remains unchanged.

Head and Body

I really should rather be sleeping, but I'll put a link to the body + head I'm thinking of getting tomorrow, alongside the specifications that I'm thinking of.

Originally, the doll I was planning on getting would've been about 70 cm, which is... ah... huge. Even 60 cm is a lot, but I think it's a lot more manageable than 70, so that's the height (head included) that I want to get. Eventually down the line, I also want to get a doll for Hilda. I want them to be relatively proportional to one another, so depending on what doll for which character I end up getting first, Ghetsis might just end up being 70 cm lol. Hilda may end up being the first, since her doll will be shorter either way, which means she'll be comparatively cheaper to get. And, aside from shoes, her outfit would be pretty easy to make myself.

Eyes

Redddd ooo spookyyyyy

Wig

For better or for worse, I know almost exactly what shade of green I'm looking for. I've heard that Taobao has good options, so I might muster up the courage to break the language barrier and order off of there sometime... Plus, I'm curious about the ouji clothes that they sell on there.

Faceup

Need to find an artist I like. I'd say it's a fairly simple faceup, since all he really needs is some wrinkles, green eyebrows, and some minimal shading, but it's something that I have neither the skillset nor the supplies to do. That man has no blush on his cheeks LMFAO.

Clothes

Excluding shoes (and probably socks and gloves too), I'm planning on trying to make his clothes for him from scratch. Since I've already gotten fabric for my own BW Ghetsis cosplay, I'll save the fabric leftovers once I make it and use it for the doll instead. We'll be matching then. :)

Accessories

The doll stand thing, though I'd say that's more of a necessity than anything. I want to 3D print his eyepieces, though I don't have the faintest idea of how I'd attach it to his face yet. Maybe a little bit of eyelash glue? Either way, I don't want to ruin his faceup.
