Ok ok so:
This run is based off of my what-if of: "What if I used the (most commonly used) Pokémon that Team Plasma uses in one of my runs?" I was looking through the Bulbapedia page on Team Plasma Grunts and I saw that a lot of Pokémon the grunts used were consistent, at least in BW, which got my gears turning and lead to the what-if question that you see up top... yeah. I think it's great.
Note: This run is definitely better suited for a BW playthrough rather than a B2W2 one, since B2W2 grunts have a lot more variety in terms of what kind of Pokemon they fight with, and BW restricts you to the Unova Pokémon before post-game, which (in my opinion) makes it A LOT easier to play through this run, solely because it's easier to encounter them. I think that if you do want to play through this run in B2W2, it's better to branch out and use Pokémon that other Teams have traditionally used, just becuase there's more variety in Pokémon from the get-go... although, if you like a challenge, then using Unova Pokémon no matter the game is my recommendation, lol. Anyways, without further ado, here's the Pokémon that I think best work for a more or less authentic Team Plasma grunt team playthrough. Do with this what you will, but let me know if (you think) it's actually feasible to beat the game like this or not.
- Patrat - Watchog
- Purrloin - Liepard
- Sandile - Krokorok - Krookodile
- Scraggy - Scrafty
- Trubbish - Garbodor
- [Your Choice] but I would recommend...
- Timburr - Gurdurr - Conkeldurr
- Venipede - Whirlipede - Scolipede
- Foongus - Amoonguss
- Pawniard - Bisharp (The Shadow Triad uses these especially A LOT)
- Deino - Zweilous - Hydreigon Ok this one's a bit of a stretch, especially since it's more Ghetsis's Pokémon than anything, but I saw several (apparently it's only 2) grunts using these in B2W2
- Vullaby - Mandibuzz A few grunts use Mandibuzz in Pokéspe and in one of the animations
All in all, I wouldn't say this is as hard as, say, nuzlocking, but it's definitely a bit challenging considering that most of your team is going to be made of primarily Dark-type Pokémon (and the movepool that comes with said type). Burgh and Marshall especially are gonna be a bit of a nightmare, but the rest of the Elite Four and Gym Leaders should be normal difficulty, if not easy (read: Caitlin).
